Albany's Gerardo Suero has won the StatSheet America East Player of the Week award for the week ending February 13th. StatSheet's America East Freshman of the Week is Nate Sikma from Hartford.

Suero led the entire America East in scoring (25.33 pts per game) and free throws (6.67 per game). He also put up 50% shooting, 6 rebounds per game, and 4 assists per game. The Albany junior put these numbers up in a victory against Maine and losses to Boston University and New Hampshire.

Suero topped all scoring and rebounding for the Great Danes with 28 points and 9 rebounds in an 81-78 loss to Boston University. That was followed by a team-leading 20 points plus an additional 4 assists in a 69-64 loss to New Hampshire. Finally, Suero led all scoring with 28 points and added 6 assists, closing out the week with a 76-68 win over Maine.

Gerardo Suero has been named StatSheet America East Player of the Week seven times this season. He has also come in second once. The runner-up this week is Chase Plummer, a sophomore from Maryland-Baltimore County. Honorable mention goes to Tommy Brenton, a junior from Stony Brook. The highest ranking player from Maine was Mike Allison who finished 11th.

StatSheet America East Freshman of the Week: Hartford's Nate Sikma

Nate Sikma averaged 31 minutes as a starter for Hartford. His average in rebounding (8.0 per game) topped all America East freshmen. In a 76-70 win over Maryland-Baltimore County, Sikma led the Hawks in scoring with 20 points and in rebounding with 7. Then in a thin 62-60 win against Binghamton, he totaled 9 points and 9 rebounds.

This is a new honor for Nate Sikma, the first time he has won StatSheet America East Freshman of the Week. Ben Dickinson from Binghamton gets runner-up. Honorable mention goes to Yolonzo Moore from Hartford. Justin Edwards was the highest ranking freshman from Maine and finished 5th. Maine has one StatSheet America East Player of the Week win this season.
